A school production promises to be the biggest and best yet.
Excited students at Burnt Mill Academy were keen to audition for the School of Rock having seen the West End musical recently.
In fact, many requested to audition on the coach on the way home. Interest was so high, a second audition day had to be put on and a total of 150 students tried out for parts.
Cristin Casey, director of performing arts at the Burnt Mill Academy Trust, said: “Having taken students to see the show in London, there was a huge buzz around auditioning for our school production.
“Every student in the school was given the opportunity to audition for a part. The show will feature lots of acting, music and our school bands.
“We believe we are the school of rock with our very own rock venue on site here with Club Foot. It is almost written for our facilities and so many of our students are in bands already.
“We are celebrating the legacy of rock music-making that has gone on through the years at Burnt Mill.”
